The Infant Allergy Medicines Of The Day Are Easy And Effective

Infants are highly tender and sensitive, and their immune system is not strong enough to fight imbalances with the result, even minor non-conforming situations, pollution, climate, pets, substances, foods, medicines and physical states cause allergies in their bodies as a manifestation of their incompatibility. The allergies torment them as sneezing, stomach-upset, rashes, itching, runny nose, coughing or cold. Of these, food constitutes the most common causative factor behind such allergies. Infant allergy medicines including infant food allergy medicine are very crucial for relieving the hapless children from these allergies.

Infant Allergy MedicinesThe dynamics:

For allergies, the body reacts in unusual ways from the immune system. The immune system is supposed to fight out illness, but at times it reacts even with harmless substance like pollen mistaking it for a virus, parasite or bacteria. To fight them back, the immune system overproduces protective proteins such as anti-bodies causing swelling and inflammation of tissues, nasal passage and skin. This appears as allergy.

If the ailments remain for short period, they are temporary body ailments, while if the complaints persist, the reason could be traced to allergies.

Some infant allergy symptoms:

A blowing nose with a cloudy nasal discharge for some days coupled with fever is mostly a cold, a disease, while the nasal discharge for days may confirm allergy. This is anaphylaxis allergy causing swelling of baby’s wind-ways with difficulty in swallowing and breathing.

Conjunctivitis (Eyes) and pinkeye:

The eyes turn red along with heavy discharge.. Infants will do rubbing of the eyes to soothe the itching sensation; the eyes may tear excessively; dark circles will form around the eyes with eyes causing frequent itching and irritation.

Lower respiratory tract:

Coughing and wheezing with whistling sound is frequent with infants with the sensitive airways of their lungs swelling up due to bad action of the respiratory virus.

Skin allergy:

Newborns contract rashes early which disappear after they become 2-3 months-old. Atopic dermatitis or eczema is one scaly rash appearing as itchy patches on the baby’s skin- cheeks, arms and legs. Contact dermatitis is another rash caused by the reaction of detergent or clothing that is used. The classic allergic rash, which is itchy, is rare.

Behavioural changes: Babies may become uncomfortable due to congestion, itchy skin and abdominal pain- all resulting in irritability and problems in sleeping and eating.

Stomach upset causing diarrhoea: Stomach discomfort often ends up in diarrhoea.

Pet allergy: Scales from pets’ skin often cause allergies such as watery eyes and runny nose.

Infant allergy medicine:

When it comes to infant allergy medicines of the day which are easy and effective , make a two -pronged approach: one is to withdraw the causative factors, and the other is to consult a paediatrician and give medicines. Over-the counter and prescription medicines are available in plenty for curing infant allergies. You should strictly follow the infant allergy medicine dosage to avoid any contra effects for the tender children.

Over the-counter antihistamines cause drowsiness. So, they’re given in limited dosage only in the evening.

These are time-tested infant allergy medicines, curing allergic reactions such as itching with hay fever, hives, eczema, mucus production and swelling in the tissues. For mild allergies, doctors mostly prescribe antihistamines as tablets and syrups. Antihistamine sprays are used for relieving hay fever using the same through the nose or mouth.

Cromolyn: Cromolyn Sodium is useful for preventing nasal allergy. Chronic problem may demand its use daily, while occasional encounter with allergens may need only limited application. Its spray form is used for curing nasal congestion. It has no side-effects.

For curing nasal congestion, antihistamines are taken along with a decongestant. This combination makes children hyper- active even robbing them of their sleep. So, another formulation called nasal corticosteroid spray is used which causes no hyper-activity. This is given either as sprays or drops, carefully in limited ways to avoid rebound effects.

Also known as Cortisones or steroids, these are effective for allergy treatments. They are available as skin medicines (as creams and ointments), asthma inhalers, nasal sprays, and pills or liquids. Steroid creams or ointments are useful for treating eczema. Nasal drops made from cortisone are very effective for nasal allergy. Once-a-day application is enough.

Allergy Immunotherapy:

Allergy shots (or immunotherapy), are effective in reducing air-borne allergens. This involves giving the same substance the child is allergic to, by injection in order for altering the immune system and thus making the child less allergic to that substance. This method is successful in treating respiratory allergies to pollens. At present, sub-lingual immunotherapy is adopted for pollens, months before the onset of their season. Immunotherapy for cat and dog allergy is very effective.

This procedure is time-consuming. Allergen extracts are given every week first, then at longer gaps, and finally every 4 weeks. The maximum effect is reached after 6-12 months of injections when the child feels the allergy complaints fading. This is continued for 3-5 years when a decision to stop them is taken. Many children are free from complaints in this method.

Tips for arresting allergies in infants:

Be wary of dust outside.

Introduce solid food to the infant from the 4th month onwards. American Academy of Paediatrics recommends this.

90% food allergies occur due to intake of milk, wheat, seafood, tree nuts, egg, peanuts, soy and fish. Berries, seeds and Tips corn also are allergenic for some. So avoid them.

Breast feeding infuses immunity to allergies.

Mow your lawn’s grass so that its pollen pollution is minimized.

Keep the windows shut so that ingress of pollen is thwarted.

Use air-conditioner to keep the pollen count minimum.

Pollution, climate change, food and use of antibiotics mainly contribute to allergies. Make sure you avoid the infants’ exposure to them.
